Long before expansion baseball arrived “north of the border,” the Montreal Royals unveiled stars such as Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente, fielding championship teams in the International League. This 1940s jacket was worn by a Royals player. The blue nylon zippered garment features “Royals” sewn to the left breast in white felt and a vintage “Deacon Brothers” label within the 3-1/4”-wide collar. All original, the jacket shows wear and minor fabric loss within the collar, as well as fading about the body. The red flannel lining remains completely intact.
