The predecessor to popular Yellow Hall of Fame Plaque postcards, this 1947-1963 Albertype example is an appropriate medium for the cut signature of Hall of Famer Charles A. “Kid” Nichols. The youngest-ever hurler to reach the 300 win plateau, Nichols (d.1953) has rendered a black-ink fountain pen scripting which shows (“9”) potency and has been adhered to the obverse of this Cooperstown collectible. Nichols pennings are among the scarcer in Hall of Fame circles, and one would be hard pressed to find one as bold as this example. Full photo LOA from JSA.
Note: there are vintage handwritten notations (biographical content regarding Nichols) on the reverse.
