While it was painfully apparent that his longing for that elusive World Series title would not come to fruition during his 1960 swan song, Hall of Famer Ted Williams never lost his competitive fire and most of all, his unrivaled hitting ability. Still among the game’s most feared hitters at age 41, Williams became just the fourth member of the esteemed “500 Home Run” fraternity on June 17, 1960. Two days later, the “Splendid Splinter” kept right on swingin’, delivering career circuit clout No. 501 off of Cleveland’s Jim Perry. Encapsulated and Graded VG 3 by PSA, this full ticket was issued at Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium for a June 19, 1960 twinbill in which Williams upped his lifetime HR total to 501 and his season batting Average to .317. The “LOWER BOX” voucher is the lone graded example and features printed seating/event details and the facsimile signature of Cleveland native and former Indians owner Myron H. Wilson. A vertical fold accounts for the technical grade, though razor sharp edges/corners and a clean reverse make this 500 Home Run Club relic present much nicer than the third-party assessment suggests.
