Dubbed “The Great White Hope” following his 1915 Heavyweight triumph, former champion Jess Willard is the physically imposing subject and endorser of this display. Framed to 14-1/8 x 22-1/8”, a 5x3 lined index card is signed by Willard (d.1968) in black-ink steel tip fountain pen. Preceded by his inscription of “La Crescenta Calif” and followed by “Dec 24 49,” Willard’s signature projects (“9”) strength and clarity. Among the toughest Heavyweight Champion pennings, this gorgeous Willard scripting is accented by an 8x10 black-and-white photo. Full photo LOA from JSA.
