Who better to endorse any Washington, D.C. baseball-related artifact than Walter Johnson? This World War II era vendor’s cap has been signed by the face of the franchise in black ink. A fan favorite among Griffith Stadium patrons who, more often than not, had little else to enjoy, “L.S. Briggs” hot dogs were all the rage in the Nation’s Capital. Worn by a vendor at the cavernous venue, this paper forage cap bears the local meat packer’s logo and is decorated with Johnson’s autograph (“7-8” strength). Full photo LOA from JSA.
