Description

With a record nine Hall of Famers on their roster and in the front office, the 1928 New York Yankees demolished their American League competition and subsequently smashed the St. Louis Cardinals by a 4-0 margin to secure the franchise’s third World Series title. Penned by the heart of Murderers’ Row, this blue-and-red-stitched OAL Barnard sphere is inscribed by (20) members of the historic squad. The black steel-tip fountain pen endorsements average (“4-5”) while the canvas presents similarly with limited abrasions throughout. The trademark stampings are bold and pronounced while the majority of the signatures are immediately discernable. Included are Sweet Spot: Ruth (“5-6”); West Panel: Dickey (“6”), Durst, Zachary, Moore, Dugan; East Panel: Koenig, Lazzeri (“4-5”); North Panel: Meusel, Paschal, He. Johnson, Bengough, Ryan; South Panel: Combs (“5”), Durocher (“4-5”), Gehrig (“4-5”), Heimach, P. Collins, Grabowski (d.1946, “4”) and Pipgras. This item has a reserve. Estimated value ($7,000-$12,000). Full photo LOA from JSA.
